Air Logistics, Appareo Systems Get FAA Nod for Flight Data Monitoring System

Offshore operator Air Logistics and Appareo Systems have won FAA approval for a flight data monitoring solution they jointly developed that the companies say is the first low-cost, lightweight, fully integrated system specifically for small and legacy aircraft. The FAA issued them a supplemental type certificate for installation of the Aircraft Logging and Event Recording for Training and Safety (Alerts) system, which Air Log is putting in its Bell Helicopter 206s and 407s and offering to other operators. The system includes an inertial sensor suite, a recorder capable of storing more than 100 hr of high-resolution flight data, and 3D graphic flight replay and analysis software for detailed flight tracking and analysis.
