Barco Develops Multi-Touch Cockpit Display
Visualization provider Barco has introduced a “multi-touch” display that the company is touting as the “cockpit of the future.” During the Farnborough International Airshow in July, attendees were invited to see the display concept first-hand. Barco’s R&D division partnered with Delft University of Technology to develop the concept, which features one large “iPad-style” glass screen with a single multi-touch display. The display also uses Barco’s modular open system architecture (MOSArt), which will allow operators to incorporate mission-specific equipment such as flight display or flight management systems into the baseline platform. The company plans to take feedback from Farnborough and “fine-tune” the concept before pursuing certification and making the system available to civil operators.
