Rotorcraft Report: Civil Contracts

Aerocomputers received a contract for the Baltimore County Md. Police Dept, valued at more than $395,000, to provide UltiChart moving map systems, digital video recorders, rugged display monitors and high-precision inertial measurement units.

Latitude Technologies has been selected by Talon Helicopters to provide its SkyNode S200-011 satellite voice and 2-way data equipment and LWS Sentinel tracking system for use on Chopper 9, the Bell Helicopter 206L4 that covers the British Columbia lower mainland for the Vancouver affiliate of CTV, Canada’s largest television network. Talon operates the news and traffic helicopter for CTV.

CPI Aerostructures has received a contract from Sikorsky Aircraft valued at $2 million for sponson trailing edges for the S-92. Deliveries are to begin in December. Based in Edgewood, N.Y., CPI Aerostructures produces structural aircraft parts and provides engineering, technical and program management services.

Grand Prairie, Texas-based CareFlite signed two contracts with the U.S. government. The first reinstates the health and human services call center on a monthly basis to organize transportation of victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita who are too ill for normal methods of travel and whose medical condition requires medical assistance during the trip. The second contract is with the FAA for the development of the next generation of GPS approaches for helicopters (precision approaches vs. the current non-precision GPS approaches) and low-level helicopter airways in and the around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. This contract will last three years and generate about $800,000 to CareFlite.
