Rotorcraft Report: 100 FastFin Sold

BLR Aerospace has sold its 100 FastFin tail boom system to Wildcat Helicopters of Kelowna, British Columbia. The FastFin combines a modified vertical stabilizer with two boom-mounted strakes to reduce undesired lift and translating tendency, while increasing tail rotor efficiency and usable thrust area. Wildcat has purchased six FastFin Systems for installation on its Bell 212 helicopters, which are used in a variety of missions from aerial firefighting, rappelling and rescue hoisting, to heli-skiing and external load operations.

At present, FastFin systems are available for Bell 204B, 206, 212, UH-1 and Huey II airframes. "In the future, we are looking at providing FastFins for Eurocopter AS350s and the Sikorsky S-76," said Dave Marone, BLR Aerospace’s VP of sales.
