Rotorcraft Report: Beijng Takes Delivery Of AW109, AW139

PUBLIC SERVICE/SECURITY

AgustaWestland has delivered an AW109 light twin and an AW139 medium twin to the Beijing Municipal Public Service Bureau.

The delivery marks the first time the AW139 has been used in China for law enforcement purposes.

The two aircraft are part of an order placed in June 2006 that included two CA109 Powers produced by the Jiangxi Change Agusta Helicopter joint venture company in China.

In March, AgustaWestland signed a contract with CCTV of China for a CA109 Power for electronic news-gathering and aerial filming in Beijing. The aircraft will be used to cover the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

The AW109 Power has been used in China since 2004, when the Shenzhen police took delivery of the aircraft type.
