Operators Agree to N.Y. Noise Restrictions

Helicopter operators and airports on eastern Long Island have agreed to reduce helicopter noise, move flights away from populated areas, and promote noise-abatement procedures. The move came under pressure from U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) in response to residents of the area about increased helicopter noise, according to The Garden City Life. It reported helicopter operations at East Hampton and Gabreski Airports increased 15 and 35-plus percent last summer over the previous one.  The new terms are in a letter signed by the airports and the Eastern Regional Helicopter Council. Operators had been facing calls for restricting flight to overwater routes. For related news
