Mono Tiltrotor Seeks Funding
Boston, Mass.-based AeroCopter is seeking R&D funding for an extraordinarily dramatic new design, the Mono Tiltrotor. The small, single-engine turbine aircraft resembles a pusher-prop airplane with short wings, but that’s where normalcy in design ends. The tips of the wings serve as pivot points for a pair of stacked, counter-rotating rings measuring 27 ft. in diameter. Attached to the disks are rotor blades that tilt the rings for climbing and turning. Power is transmitted via electromagnets. For more information
