Tilt-rotor May Land in Boston

The Bell/Agusta Aerospace  BA609 tilt-rotor may be landing soon in South Boston Mass. The aircraft is scheduled to become commercially available

The Bell/Agusta Aerospace  BA609 tilt-rotor may be landing soon in South Boston Mass. The aircraft is scheduled to become commercially available in 2010. The city’s Economic Development and Industrial Corp. is seeking a private developer who would build and operate a vertiport/heliport, said the BostonHerald.com. Boston is the only major city in the United States without a public-use heliport, according to the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission.  In addition to providing a takeoff and landing area, the heliport would include parking for verticrafts and helicopters, a maintenance facility and a fueling system. The facility would be tailored to Sikorsky Aircraft S-92s and verticrafts and occupy 41,901 sq ft. For related news
