PremiAir Offers Alternative London Heliport in Surry

By Andrew Drwiega, International Bureau Chief

West London Heliport, promising to be the new location for helicopters heading to the south east of England, is the rebranded name of PremiAir Aviation International’s Blackbushe airport in Surrey. The location is 30 miles south west of London.

Graham Avery, PremiAir chairman, was keen to position Blackbushe as a cheaper alternative to Battersea Heliport with facilities that would offer helicopter owners longer-term options, not only when visiting London but also when travelling abroad from one of London’s main international airports. He described this as a “Land, Park and Go” service and said that alternatives in the southeast were required.

Avery revealed that a further £250,000 had been provisioned to invest in developing the infrastructure around the fixed-base operator (FBO) facility, with an emphasis on providing those flying in and transiting through with whatever they need – including chauffeur driver cars into central London. The London brand agency Static Fusion, recently associated with a project for London Oxford Airport, has been engaged to contribute into the project.

He said that discussions were being conducted with neighboring airport Farnborough about how the two might find ways to mutually benefit each other’s business.

Helicopters could be stored within the 50,000 square feet of hanger space either overnight of for longer periods. The company promises that “landing fees will be at least a third of the price, and include onward chauffeur travel, of its closest business aviation neighbor airport.”

PremiAir’s management states that there are no restrictions on movements at the West London Heliport and opening hours are 07:00 hours to 22:00 hours, seven days a week. PremiAir is already a long established helicopter charter company.
