Mercedes-Benz EC145 Debuts
Eurocopter’s EC145 styled after the Mercedes-Benz made its first public appearance in May at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE 2011) in Geneva, Switzerland. With the initial sale for the helicopter series completed, the custom EC145 stopped at the show before delivery. The EC145’s interior is designed after the automaker’s vehicles, featuring high-end materials, wood paneling and ambient cabin lights. Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Como, Italy came up with the design for the helicopter, which incorporates Eurocopter’s hingeless rotor system and enhanced rotor blades to reduce sound and vibration levels. The aircraft holds four to eight passengers, depending on configuration. The EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style is part of Eurocopter’s Stylence line of helicopters, which also includes the EC135 Hermes.
