Meet the Contributors
LEE BENSON is the retired senior pilot for the Los Angeles County Fire Dept. Before he was named senior pilot, Lee ran the aviation section’s safety and training programs, including organizing the section’s yearly safety meeting with other public agencies and the press.
REBECCA CHRISTIE this month contributes the Program Insider page of Rotorcraft Report. Based in Washington, she specializes in defense and economic policy and has been published in The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times, among others.
KEITH CIANFRANI contributes this month’s Safety Watch column. A retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel, master aviator, and Army instructor pilot, he is rated in both fixed- and rotary-wing. While at the U.S. Army Safety Center, he was an advisor to the director of Army safety and served as an aviation safety officer and accident investigator. He authored many aviation safety articles in the center’s Flight Fax magazine. He holds a master’s in aerospace safety from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Keith is a certificated flight instructor and has flown commercial aircraft for more than 20 years in and around New York City. He teaches at Drexel University and at The Philadelphia Military Academy at Elverson.
GIOVANNI DE BRIGANTI tracks the rotorcraft business in Europe and the world for R&W from his base in Paris. He has written for us for more than 21 years. He is currently preparing for the Farnborough Air Show, upcoming in July, and working on stories on air medical and corporate helicopter operations in Europe for future issues.
GEOFF FEIN updates us this month on U.S. Navy and Marine Corps rotorcraft programs. A defense writer for six years, he covers Navy, Marine, and Coast Guard programs for our sister publication, Defense Daily, in Washington.
JEN DI MASCIO offers an update on U.S. Air Force rotorcraft programs. She formerly covered Congress for Defense Daily and now reports on defense lobbying for The Politico and its Web site, politico.com.
ANN ROOSEVELT updates us this month on funding and plans for U.S. Army aviation programs. A defense writer since 1991, she covers Army and international defense ground force policy and programs for Defense Daily.
