Swiss Firm Proposes New Helicopter

The company, Helips, is seeking investors for a new, multi-purpose, light helicopter that does not have a tail rotor. The Gulf Times reported that two representatives from Helips gave a presentation at the Qatar Scientific Club earlier this week, to explain their “innovative helicopter technology.” During the presentation, the company stated that the helicopter would be aimed at both the civil and military markets and that the rotorcraft without tail blades would reduce noise without impacting maneuverability. Company executives reported that Helips has already produced two prototypes (a drone tested by Iran, and a heliplane), which have passed all the required tests. The company will use these prototypes to gain the required certifications before it begins production in 2011. For related news
