Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia conducted their first joint military exercise, Danube Guard ’07, June 25-28.
The trilateral border exercise was aimed at joint training of the professional corps of the three nations and strengthen regional security, enhance interoperability among multinational forces, and manage crisis situations. In addition to soldiers of all armed forces branches, the event also saw participation of other security agencies’ officials from the participating states.
Serbia’s air force and air defense force (Vazduhoplovstvo i Protivvazduhoplovna Odbrana - V i PVO) used the exercise to reveal for the first time its Eurocopter SA341H Gazelles finished with the new V i PVO insignia, a stylized version of the so-called Takovski cross that has taken the form of a dark blue-bordered white cross superimposed over a red-and-dark-blue roundel.
