Navy Secretary Wants VH-71 Delayed
The U.S. Navy secretary wants to delay production of the new presidential helicopter again, according to Bloomberg News. The news service says Secretary Donald Winter has recommended in a budget memo to Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England that the purchase of four VH-71s be postponed until Fiscal 2010. According to Bloomberg, the Naval Air Systems Command program to develop and procure the Lockheed Martin/AgustaWestland/Bell Helicopter aircraft based on the EH101 has been marked by "consistent underexecution." This would be the second year that production has been delayed. For related news
