History Places Odds In Favor of VH-71’s Survival

Stephen Moss, CEO of the U.S. unit of AgustaWestland is reportedly breathing a little easier when it comes to the future of the company’s VH-71 Presidential Helicopter program, which it shares with partner Lockheed Martin. In spite of a Congressional examination into the program pursuant to the Nunn-McCurdy Amendment – the legislation that calls for a detailed examination of any defense program that runs significantly late or over budget – there have only been two program cancellations out of the 36 cases reviewed.
