Transcom Selects Vertical de Aviacion for Afghan Support
The U.S. Transportation Command has issued a $214.2-million contract to Bogota, Colombia-based Vertical de Aviacion related to helicopter support services in Afghanistan. The agreement, which runs until Oct. 31, 2013, includes aircraft, pilots, mechanics and support personnel, tools, maintenance and management for passenger and cargo transportation in Afghanistan. Vertical de Aviacion is among six companies to receive extensions, with AAR, Canadian Helicopters, Columbia Helicopters, Construction Helicopters, Evergreen Helicopters also winning bids on the multiple-award contract.
