Sea Kings Assist Afghan Drug Raid

The Royal Navy Airborne Surveillance and Control (ASaC) fleet of Sikorsky Sea King Mk7s has conducted a drug raid in Afghanistan, destroying more than £6 million ($9.7 million) worth of opium, according to the UK military. The Sea Kings used a Thales Searchwater 2000 surveillance radar to identify and track drug activity, then passed the information to ground forces. In addition to anti-drug missions, the ASaC Sea Kings have assisted with operations and munitions in Afghanistan.
