Election Winner Questions Poland Airbus Deal

A top member of the political party that won elections to oust Poland’s current government last month questioned whether that nation would do better to scrap a deal to buy new military helicopters from Airbus, according to the Reuters news service. It quoted Witold Waszczykowski of the victorious Law and Justice (PiS) party as saying half of the ordered 50 EC725s would be built in France, while both Sikorsky Aircraft and AgustaWestland have manufacturing facilities in Poland. Airbus beat bids from those two manufacturers in the selection for the $3 billion program, but a contract for the work has not yet been signed.
