Rotorcraft Report: Alabama Guard Receives UH-72A Lakotas

EADS North America has handed over four UH-72A Lakota light utility helicopters to the Alabama Army National Guard. The helicopters, which will be based in Birmingham, are assigned to Detachment 1, Company C, 2nd Battalion, 151st Aviation Regiment. They will replace the unit’s aging OH-58 Kiowa fleet and serve in homeland security and aerial command, control and reconnaissance roles. The UH-72A will also provide state-level support for the Alabama governor and community organizations.
