Peru Takes Delivery of Russian Mi-171s
Russian Helicopters has handed over the first three Mi-171Sh military transports to the Ministry of Defense of Peru. The full agreement, reached in 2010, calls for a total of six Mi-171Sh transports, with the remaining three scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2011. Russian Helicopters subsidiary Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (UUAP) built the helicopters under a FSUE Rosoboronexport contract. The first three arrived in Peru on a fixed-wing Antonov An-124. As part of the deal, Russian Helicopters will also provide equipment and train flight and engineering personnel. The Mi-171Sh will perform numerous tasks for the Peruvian Defense Ministry, including law enforcement and anti-drug trafficking.
