Rotorcraft Report: Oct. 26: Deadly Day For Helos in Afghanistan

A total of 14 Americans died in two separate helicopter crashes in Afghanistan on Oct. 26, making it one of the deadliest single days since the war began in October 2001. According to NATO’s International Security Assistance Force, the first crash in the western part of the country involved the loss of seven soldiers and three civilians, as well as injuries to 11 U.S. and 14 Afghan troops. In the second incident, two helicopters collided with each other, resulting in the deaths of four soldiers. Among the victims were three Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents and a pilot from Massachusetts.
