Sikorsky Aircraft Launching International Black Hawk

Sikorsky Aircraft is hoping to sell more of its UH-60 Black Hawks overseas. The company hopes to produce 24-30 of the less expensive aircraft beginning in 2011. The helicopters would be assembled at a factory in Mielec, Poland that Sikorsky bought in March. The goal is to sell the Black Hawk in parts of Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The effort is being viewed as a response to the success of the Eurocopter-built NH90, a Black Hawk competitor. Twenty-two of the 115 Black Hawks that Sikorsky delivered from 2003 to 2006 went to international customers with the rest going to the U.S. military. In the next 20 yr, Sikorsky would like to place 2,000 Black Hawks in the international market, about 100 a year, according to the company. For related news
