Rotorcraft Report: Contracts
Lockheed Martin was awarded a follow-on production contract for Arrowhead, the new electro-optical system for Boeing AH-64 Apache pilots, by the U.S. Army. The contract is valued at $311 million and authorizes production of 158 Arrowhead kits. Final deliveries are to occur in December 2009.
McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Co., Mesa, Ariz. has been awarded a delivery order for $21 million as part of a $41-million, firm-fixed price contract for improved helmet display sight systems in support of the Apache helicopter. Work is expected to be complete by March 2009 and performed in Mesa. The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala is the contracting activity.
Contrack International has won a $38-million contract to build a rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft hangar at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Work will be performed at the Al Udeid Air Base, with completion scheduled for March 15, 2009.
Honeywell has been awarded a $14-million contract for 29 embedded Global Positioning System navigation systems for the Sikorsky Aircraft MH-60 and Boeing MH-47 aircraft platforms. Work is to be complete by March 2009.
Sikorsky Aircraft was awarded a $73-million contract for an H-53 main rotorhead and gearbox repair and overhaul. Work is expected to be complete by September.
Northstar Aerospace, Inc. has received orders valued at $36 million to provide components for new-build transmissions and spare parts used on the Boeing CH-47 Chinook.
Kollsman has won a $97.6-million contract from the U.S. Navy for test, teardown, analysis, and repair/modification of various Night Targeting System Weapon Repairable and System Repairable Assemblies for the U.S. Marine Corps AH-1W. Work will be performed in Merrimack, N.H., and is expected to be completed by March 2012. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured, with two proposals solicited for this limited competition requirement and two offers received.
