New CSAR-X Amendment Due Next Month

U.S. Air Force officials expect to issue another amendment to the CSAR-X competition by the end of next month, according to Michael Wynne, secretary of the Air Force. It might, according to Wynne, be awarded by the end of the year. The Air Force awarded the $15 billion program to the Boeing Co. last year. In February the General Accountability Office upheld protests from two of the bidders, Lockheed Martin Systems Integration and Sikorsky Aircraft, each protesting the manner in which the most probable life cycle cost was calculated.  Wynne did not indicate if a new request for proposals would be issued but said the Air Force would not change the requirements for the helicopter and did not need to give the three bidders much time to respond to the changes. Wynne made his comments at the annual Air Force Association meeting this week in Washington. For related news
