Unmanned K-MAX Undergoes Navy QRA

Lockheed Martin and Kaman have completed a five-day K-MAX quick reaction assessment (QRA) for the U.S. Navy’s unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) program. The trial, which took place in Yuma, Ariz., is part of a $45.8-million contract awarded in December 2010 to test the unmanned K-MAX in the cargo resupply role. The Navy plans to deploy the helicopter to Afghanistan this fall as part of a six-month effort to assist U.S. Marine Corps air and ground logistical operations.
