Electro Energy has won a $5 million contract from the U.S. Defense Logistic Agency to manufacture batteries for the U.S. Army/Bell Helicopter OH-58 Kiowa. The Danbury, Conn.-based company will produce nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries, NiCd cells, and associated heater blanket assemblies for that helicopter fleet. The contract has a two-year base period with three option years and guaranteed minimum order quantities for each year. The base contract is valued at up to $5.2 million. The batteries are to be produced at Electro Energy’s Colorado Springs, Colo. facility.

CAE has been awarded $66 million worth of military contracts in Singapore and Germany. Under a contract with Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency, CAE is to design and manufacture simulators for the Republic of Singapore Air Force Sikorsky Aircraft S-70B Seahawks and Eurocopter AS332 Super Pumas and develop an S-70B mission-crew station to replicate the back end of the helicopter for training sensor operators in Singapore’s navy. The contract with the German procurement office Bundesamt fur Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung involves a range of on-site maintenance support and logistics services for flight simulation equipment.

AMI Instruments, an L-3 Link Simulation & Training subsidiary based in Broken Arrow, Okla., has won a $1.8 million contract to build a Bell Helicopter 412 cockpit simulator for Aegis Technologies Group Inc. of Huntsville, Ala., which will use it to build a full-motion, electric-base flight simulator for the Royal Saudi Air Force,

Sikorsky Aircraft has won a U.S. Army helicopter order valued at $368 million for six UH-60M and 20 HH-60M Black Hawks. The order is part of a December 2007 contract valued at as much as $11.6 billion to build as many as 800 Black Hawks and Seahawks as the Army upgrades its fleet.

The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman a $24.9 million contract to produce airborne laser mine detection systems for its helicopters.
