Major Orders Unveiled at Helitech
Companies exhibiting at Helitech International 2015 in London logged some major orders at the Oct. 6-8 show.
|Airbus’ H160 full-scale mockup made its British debut at Helitech, where the manufacturer said the aircraft’s flight test program is proceeding, with the prototype having reached 175 kt and an altitude of 10,000 ft. The second prototype is planned to fly before year’s end.

AgustaWestland said HeliService International GmbH ordered light intermediate twin AW169 to service wind farms in the North Sea. The aircraft will feature a customized configuration, including a dedicated offshore interior and rescue hoist. HeliService is acquiring the AW169 in mid- to late 2016 through lessor LCI Helicopters.
Also, Waypoint Leasing agreed to acquire 18 more AgustaWestland helicopters, including the AW169, the intermediate twin AW139 and super-medium twin AW189 for delivery from next year through 2019 for use in air ambulance, search and rescue and oil and gas operations. Waypoint owns 31 AW aircraft.

The manufacturer formally said Norwegian Air Ambulance is the launch customer of its newly enhanced H135, having ordered three. Airbus began improving the H135 with higher-performing engines and said at the show it also is offering a four-axis autopilot, redesigned aft cabin and Helionix. Also, U.K. operator PDG signed for an H135 to support its contract with the General Lighthouse Authorities as well as the first parts-by-the-hour support agreement to be signed in the U.K. since the launch of HCare earlier this year.
SonAir, a provider of onshore and offshore helicopter services to Angolan oil facilities, selected Heli-One to perform G-check inspections and custom painting on four ASS332L2 Super Pumas. The work will take place at Heli-One’s MRO facility in Rzeszow, Poland.
Also at the show, Aviation Specialties Unlimited selected Specialist Aviation Services as its dealer and service center for the U.K. and Ireland FEC Heliports unveiled two projects that will see the construction of four helipads at sites in Africa and the Middle East.
In the parts and equipment sector, Pall Aerospace said it had been selected by Marenco Swisshelicopter to supply PUREair dry barrier filters for the new SKYe SH09.
