Rotorcraft Report: Honeywell Tests Micro UAV With Gimballed Camera

Honeywell has fitted its Micro Air Vehicle with a gimballed sensor that allows a ground station operator to reposition the camera remotely. This is intended to permit the unmanned aerial system to capture and transmit images and surveillance, then quickly reposition for another view. The 16-lb, 13-in-dia vertical takeoff and landing, ducted-fan aircraft is under evaluation by the Miami-Dade, Fla. Police Dept. for law-enforcement uses. It also has been field-tested by the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry Div in Hawaii and last year was deployed with U.S. forces in Iraq to help identify improvised explosive devices.
