Seashore Town in Maryland Weighs Helo Ban

The town commission of St. Michael’s, Md. is considering prohibiting privately owned helicopters from landing within the town’s limits, according to The Salisbury Daily Times. The proposed ordinance is in response to a town resident's recent decision to land his helicopter on his property. A historic town on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, St. Michael’s bills itself as “the heart and soul of the Chesapeake Bay.” The ban wouldn’t affect government helicopters, rescue flights, or the U.S. Marine Corps missions that carry Vice President Dick Cheney to his vacation home in the area. The commission is expected to vote on the ordinance Feb. 26. For related news
