Maverick Helicopters was honored at Heli-Expo 2008 by a key supplier, Eurocopter, for having surpassed 60,000 flight hours on its fleet of EC130s.
Maverick has a helicopter fleet made up entirely of EC130s, which it calls the Eco Star. At the show this year in Houston, the company, one of Nevada’s top air tour operators, took delivery of its 28th EC130.
"In just under five years, Maverick has accumulated more than 60,000 flight hours on its Eco Star fleet," said Marc Paganini, president and CEO of American Eurocopter. "This is quite a testimony to the company and to their helicopter of choice, the EC130, an aircraft designed for and with the tour operators."
Maverick put its first EC130 in service in July 2003. Since then, it has grown into the largest operator of EC130s in the world.
"The EC130 is a perfect fit for our tour operation," said John Mandernach, Maverick’s vice president of maintenance. "In fact, it is one of the most comfortable helicopters I’ve ever flown, and it is one of the most powerful. We are never limited by the engine, even on the hottest summer day."
During the show, Turbomeca also honored Maverick for having clocked more than 100,000 flight hours on Arriel engines. Without Turbomeca, Maverick President Gregg Rochna said, "we wouldn’t have been able to get where we are today."
