India Promotes Helicopter Tourism

China Daily is reporting that India “will try to promote helicopter tourism by building infrastructure and reducing costs to attract foreign tourists.” They cite the country’s civil aviation secretary, M. Nambiar, as saying the tourism side of helicopter aviation has been neglected and requires “just the right impetus” to generate growth. The government will respond by building dedicated helipads and establishing helicopter routes in Delhi and Mumbai for the 150 civil helicopters currently registered in the country, and another 450 rotorcraft expected in the next few years. Ways to reduce operational costs will be a primary focus of India’s government, as well. For additional information
