U.K. Clears S-92 for Helideck Landings

The United Kingdom has cleared the Sikorsky Aircraft S-92 to land at the country’s helidecks. The helidecks were originally designed to support the lighter S-61N, used extensively in the offshore oil industry. An analysis, sponsored by Sikorsky, said despite its increased weight, the S-92 can operate safely on the helidecks with its maximum weight of 12,020 kg (26,4554 lb).  There are 103 helidecks in the U.K. sector of the North Sea that may be affected by the new clearance.
