Rotor & Wing: Rotorcraft Report: Man Jailed for Threats To U.K. Offshore Operators

U.K. officials last month jailed a 34-year-old man for phoning in threats to offshore helicopters based in Aberdeen, Scotland and including in those threats the name of Osama bin Laden.

According to press reports from the United Kingdom, the man has been jailed for two months.

Authorities said he phone in threats to the Aberdeen operations of Bristow Group and CHC Helicopter for fun last July after he had been drinking. He reportedly left his messages as voice mails at each of the companies.

"This incident could have had very serious consequences," a police official told the BBC.
