North Sea Rescue Mission Now Recovery Operation

Officials in charge of the search for survivors of Wednesday’s crash of a Bond Offshore Helicopters’ Super Puma have shifted their focus from a rescue mission to a recovery operation. As of this writing, six bodies have been pulled from the frigid waters of the North Sea 15 miles northeast of Scotland, leaving 14 other passengers and the wreckage itself unaccounted for. The cause of the crash, which occurred in good weather, is still unknown, but followed a mayday call from the two-man flight crew as they transported workers from a BP oil platform.
