Cap and Trade

There has been a lot of talk about commercial airlines' CO2 emissions and curbing them to limit its effect on global warming. The laws are trickling down to helicopter operators and under a cap and trade program, businesses would buy and sell permits that would allow operators to emit somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000 tons of CO2 each year. Once an operator emits more than that figure, they are taxed. Helicopter Association International is currently analyzing how this issue will impact larger operators and is watching the legislative bodies responsible for the final decision.
