India Rail Project Will Use Helicopters

Konkan Railways in India will be using Indian air force helicopters to construct a rail project in Jammu and Kashmir, an area located north of India and Pakistan, according to Kashmirelive.com. The helicopters, Mil Mi-26s, will transport workers and machines used to construct rail lines. Konkan is building 80 km of train tracks passing through narrow valleys and mountain peaks in the region. Helipad points have been selected along the tracks but the air force will build another helipad along the route to accommodate the aircraft. The project is slated to begin in December.
