Rotorcraft Report: Kamov to Boost Production, Add Plant in Jordan

The Russian manufacturer Kamov reports it plans to double production this year, with orders in hand for 23 of its multi-purpose Ka-32 and Ka-226 helicopters.

According to the company, its orders include nine Ka-32s destined for export, including six headed to Portugal, two to Spain, and one to Japan. The helicopter for export is the Ka-32A11VS version of the Ka-32, which is type-certificated in Canada. VIH Helicopters there operates the Ka-32.

Also, a joint venture of Jordan and Russia reportedly plans to start construction midyear on a plant in Jordan to manufacture Ka-226s, The facility will be built on Queen Alia International Airport, according to an official of the new joint venture, called OPK Oboronprom Middle East. The Ka-226 is a light helicopter designed for passenger, transport, search-and-rescue, emergency medical services, patrol, and firefighting missions.
