Rotorcraft Report: OmniFlight Opens Roswell Base
COMMERCIAL | EMS
OmniFlight Helicopter’s Southwest Med Evac has opened a new air medical services base in Roswell, New Mexico. The new location, which will be home to a Eurocopter AS350 Super B-3, "beefs up OmniFlight’s coverage in this region," said the company’s business development director, Rob Campion. "With the Super B-3 in service, there is now an EMS helicopter within 30 minutes flying time of any location in southern New Mexico."
Inaugurated on March 1, Southwest Med Evac’s Roswell B-3 operates 24/7 from the Roswell International Air Center (ROW). Its missions include transporting sick and critically injured patients from incident scenes and between hospitals. Areas served include Roswell, Carlsbad, Artesia, Portales, Santa Rosa and Ruidoso, all of which are in New Mexico. The Super B-3 is equipped with night vision goggles for low-light flights, especially in the desert.
"We have a long history with the community of Roswell," Campion noted. "So long, that we’ve heard every UFO joke there is — which is why we never tell them ourselves."
