MidAtlantic MedEvac began in 1987 as a traditional hospital based program of Hahnemann Hospital, providing emergency care for scene transports as well as inter-hospital transports. The geographical coverage area for MidAtlantic MedEvac includes eastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York, New Jersey, Delaware and northeastern Maryland. These regions are served by air medical locations based in Pottstown, Pa., Vineland, N.J. and Woodbine, N.J.

While the clinical care and familiar faces will remain consistent, MidAtlantic MedEvac will receive three new, state-of-the-art Single Pilot IFR equipped Airbus EC-135P2+ aircraft to be used at each program location. The new fleet of helicopters offers the latest in aircraft technology, safety equipment and features, such as night vision goggles, radar altimeter, GPS navigation, satellite tracking and communications, and helicopter terrain alert warning systems (HTAWS). These aircraft are best aligned with the organization’s needs and mission and the overall care and safety of the patient as well as the flight team.

Med-Trans Corporation took ownership of MidAtlantic MedEvac effective Jan. 1, 2015. The new aircraft should be in operation in April.
