Cutting edge technology will be on show during this year’s Helitech, which takes place at Airport Cascais, near Estoril in Portugal from 5 to 7 October. Bose will be demonstrating its recently launched A20 Aviation Headset. The A20 boasts greater noise reduction capability—vital when cockpit noise levels can reach 105 dBA. Enhancing comfort has also been taken into consideration by using the latest ear cushion technology and a new earcup design that blocks more noise from entering the earcup. Helitech Portugal newcomer Garmin will be displaying its G500H glass avionics system featuring Helicopter Synthetic Vision Technology (HSVT) and helicopter-specific databases that include more than 7,000 heliports as well as thousands of additional low-altitude obstacles. The company will also be showing its Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS). BLR Aerospace will be exhibiting its FastFin™ System, which is a cost effective performance enhancing modification for single rotor helicopters. Carl Zeiss will be showing its Goshawk 350 airborne observation system. This system is used on helicopters, low to medium height UAV platforms and light aircraft to improve mission effectiveness and enhance public safety. “The helicopter industry has a genuine sense of community so it’s unsurprising that so much attention is devoted to devising new equipment and technologies that help pilots to perform their roles more effectively while also keeping safety to the fore. Our conference this year also has a strong safety element running through the aerial firefighting and training streams and we’re looking forward to hearing updates in these areas from our speakers,” says Sue Bradshaw, Helitech’s exhibition director.
