Rotorcraft Report: Med-Trans Bolsters Fleet With Big 407, EC135 Orders

AMTC ’07

Med-Trans Corp. placed two big aircraft orders at the 2007 Air Medical Transport Conference in Tampa, Fla.

The Dallas-based EMS operator ordered eight EC135s from American Eurocopter and took options on eight more. It also ordered 11 407s from Bell Helicopter.

The first EC135 is to be delivered in March, followed by roughly one a quarter after that. The 407s, which Med-Trans President and CEO Fred Buttrell called "the best single-engine EMS aircraft on the market," are to be delivered between 2009 and 2011

Med-Trans plans to use the EC135s and 407s to further expand its operations. "We’ve grown from four to 19 air medical programs over five years," said Buttrell.

"As our business continues to grow, our client’s aircraft needs vary based on location and mission," he said. "Having the ability to provide aircraft options at good economics is necessary for continued customer satisfaction and company growth."

Med-Trans is a leading U.S. provider of air ambulance services. It operates in Arizona, California, Colorado, Kentucky, North Dakota, South Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. It focuses on establishing partnerships with leading hospital systems, medical centers and EMS agencies
