Thousands of Bells Grounded for Inspection

The FAA is grounding 2,800 Bell models, including the 407, 427 and the 206 A, B and L series, to search for improperly installed bearing that could cause the co-pilot controls to malfunction. The FAA requests that operators of these helicopters visually inspect a bearing in the co-pilot cyclic controls and, if the part was improperly installed, replace it. Bell discovered the problem last week and expects the grounding to affect only 100 or so of the newer helicopters. For related news
