Rotorcraft Report: Biennial Show A Bit Slow, But Satisfactory

HELITECH ’07

Attendees and exhibitors at Helitech near Cambridge, England found the biennial trade show to be a bit slow this year, but generally were satisfied with the quality of visitors and displays.

With over 15,000 sq m (161,460 sq ft) of display space, the Oct. 2-4 event at the Imperial Air War Museum in Duxford draws the world’s major rotorcraft companies and smaller yet equally important firms get lost in the mix, as well as a fair number of helicopter operators.

Several exhibitors said there appeared to be fewer of them than at the show in 2005, and most people interviewed said visitor traffic seemed lighter than then. Still, one exhibitor, Tom Littleford of DeVore Aviation, bagged several sales within minutes of the show opening. AgustaWestland was representative of the size-up of the show by attendees and exhibitors alike.

"It was a steady day," said company spokesman Geoff Russell of Oct. 2. "AgustaWestland’s had a number of good, quality visitors."
