Helicopters May Provide Travel Solutions in Ireland

Business people in North West Ireland are putting together a commercial helicopter service for the region, according to the Western People. The group sees the new service providing travel solutions for people who must go long distances in a short amount of time. The group is looking for investors to contribute to a helicopter with night-flying capability. The helicopter would have to be able to reach most parts of the country in 50 minutes from a base in Sligo in the western part of Ireland. It would also have to reach the U.K. with a refueling stop in Dublin. As of July, there were 146 helicopters on the Irish Aircraft Register. In 1997 there were 42 helicopters registered.
