Jim Eck
Director for Program Operations Services,
Technical Operations Service Unit
Federal Aviation Administration

Jim Eck is the Director for Program Operations Services in the Technical Operations Service Unit of the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization. His directorate is responsible for all NAS infrastructure modernization activities including navigation, communications, weather and spectrum services for the National Airspace System. Additionally, Jim’s organization works directly with aviation users to develop and implement avionics standards and systems that ensure globally interoperable solutions for the Next Generation Air Transportation System.

Jim has been working acquisition programs since joining the FAA in 1996. In addition to program development and execution, he has been active in leading acquisition management policy and workforce development. Prior to joining the FAA, Jim spent 18 years working for the U.S. Navy, concluding his work with the Naval Command Control and Ocean Surveillance Center in tactical communications research and development. Jim is a 1978 BSEE graduate from the Pennsylvania State University and a 1983 MSE System Engineering graduate from the University of Pennsylvania.
