Di Reimold was named the Federal Aviation Administration Deputy Assistant Administrator for International Aviation in December 2006. In this capacity, Ms. Reimold heads an office that establishes the FAA's international priorities, targets outreach, and creates strategic partnerships to promote global aviation safety, efficiency and environmental best practices. With a staff of experts located in Washington, D.C., Brussels, London, Paris, Moscow, Dakar, Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing, New Delhi, Brasilia, Panama City (2009), Montreal and Kabul, the Office of International Aviation is able to arrange assistance and training that helps civil aviation authorities meet international standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a U.N. agency. The office works with the multiple U.S. government agencies to formalize bilateral agreements which support these efforts and also works with industry groups to leverage global activities. Ms. Reimold's organization also manages special initiatives in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, and oversees rotation and support for the more than 100 FAA personnel stationed at U.S. embassies and international field offices throughout the world.
Di brings to this position strong management and technical skills developed in both the public and private sector. She joined Honeywell Signal Analysis Center in 1980 as a manager on a communications program with Canada. In 1985, she joined Martin Marietta Air Traffic Control Division as a principal in the communications group, serving as a program manager for a number of major system acquisitions. Di joined the FAA in 1990 as it prepared to implement one of the largest telecommunications programs in its history, and over the next decade, held a succession of increasingly responsible leadership positions in the agency's information technology, communication and navigation program areas. In 2000, she left the agency to return to the private sector, where she had an opportunity to develop international policy, returning to the FAA in 2003. In addition to her professional responsibilities, Di serves as the FAA's liaison to the International Aviation Club and serves as a mentor and advisor for numerous women's groups and leadership programs.
Di holds an associate degree in Electronics Engineering, an undergraduate degree in Business Management, and a graduate degree in Management and Leadership Sciences. She is fluent in German and conversant in Spanish.
