First Spanish VLJ Service Launches

Using six bases throughout Spain, Jet Ready is launching the country’s first very light jet operation using the Eclipse 500 as its platform shortly. In the next four years, it expects to expand its fleet to 23 aircraft operating from bases in Valencia, Zaragoza, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Santiago de Compostela.
As with other VLJ operators, it is promising to eliminate the hassle factor of airline service and provide flights at or below airline business class prices and well below that of convention business charter services. It was founded by two Valencian entrepreneurs – Ignacio Garcia and Ignacio López who set up BM Jets to finance market studies and viability plans to set the project in motion.
“The idea of being able to fly door-to-door at competitive prices soon became an ambitious business project, which in turn became a solid business plan that responded to the travel requirements of company staff,” said the company. “The key: a new generation of jet aircraft materialized in the model Eclipse 500 which, due to its special manufacturing characteristics and the technical advances it incorporates, makes it possible to lower flight costs and use a large number of small airports that are much nearer the client's final destination.”
The company was born with its own resources amounting to €3.5 million, of which 34 percent was provided by the partners and 66 percent to risk capital funds and private investors.
Jet Ready enables its clients to travel to over 2,000 destinations throughout Europe and North Africa. Prices are 50 percent cheaper than those of current private aviation prices at €1,400 per hour, compared to €3,000 per hour of traditional private aviation companies.
