Panelists to Explore IFE Trends in Avionics Webinar

Avionics Magazine has assembled a panel of industry experts to explore the latest technologies and developments in the world of in-flight entertainment (IFE) and connectivity.

The Dec. 2 Webinar, entitled “Latest Trends in In-Flight Entertainment,” will bring together members of the market for an informative discussion on this dynamic and evolving sector of the aviation community.

IFE systems, like entertainment systems on the ground, are evolving rapidly. Once considered a special perk of flying, IFE is an expected amenity for business and leisure passengers alike. Passengers now can from an in-flight database of movies, video games, music and even shop from their seats from touch-screen, high-definition displays.

But the traditional definition of IFE is changing to accommodate the connectivity demands of personal electronic devices. Just three years after the failure of Connexion by Boeing, airlines are dipping their toes into the connectivity pool with the addition of Web and e-mail services. Airlines in Asia and Europe allow in-flight cell phone use, but regulatory and social hurdles have prevented that in the United States.

Panelists include: Fran Phillips, senior vice president, Airline Solutions, at Aircell; Neil James, executive director, Corporate Sales and Product Management at Panasonic Avionics Corp.; and Jeff Sare, vice president of Sales and Marketing for Thales’ IFE business.

Webinar listeners will also have the opportunity to pose questions to the panelists, creating a lively and interactive debate.
