Miwok Airways, which is changing its name to FlyMiwok to reflect its unique business model and enhance brand consistency, said revenue flights for its new air taxi service, using Cirrus aircraft will launch January 15. Serving the Southern California market, FlyMiwok said the first of its Cirrus SR-22 operators will launch the service. In addition, it placed a fleet order for the Cirrus aircraft recently. Based in Burlingame, Calif. FlyMiwok serves a region that includes Los Angeles to the San Diego or Palm Springs region, promising 40-minute, less-than-full-fare economy flights that beat the 4-5 hours on a round-trip compared to driving.
