Man Arrested for Shining Laser at Helo

A North Carolina man has been arrested for shining a laser light at a police aircrew on the evening of January 3. Nicholas Wheeler now faces charges of interfering with a flight crew. It occurred when the pilot of a Wilmington, N.C. Police Department helicopter crew caught a glimpse of a laser light shining at their OH-58. The pilot and the tactical flight officer used a combination of night vision goggles and forward-looking infrared to locate the source of the light and guide ground units to Wheeler, who still had the laser device in his possession.
